Adventure

My dear sister, whose blog you can read here, has lamented in the past of daily housework and the fate of being a stay at home mom lacking in adventure. Well I'd like to present this lately played out scenario as a lively contradiction to that claim.

Consider this- strapping your new born baby (under three months can still be considered newish) to your back, or perhaps a jogger stroller, and deftly picking your way through deserted streets of abandoned construction sites only to get to a scorched, dehydrated desert of asphalt and concrete lined with occasional domesticated shrubbery for your ease of discomfort. As you stare down this daunting path you have to consider your defenses against the large, growling, and shortsighted metal beasts that continuously pass by you at break neck speed- for they surely would break your neck if they hit you. Gathering courage and starting the journey a new dilemma presents itself- you very foolishly let the baby finish her nap before starting the excursion and therefore was delayed from your original cool early morning departure to depart in the blazing heat of the early afternoon. Sweat begins to pool in unseemly places, but you must keep your cool to confront the ever judgmental bored salesperson you are sure to encounter (only the bored ones are really judgmental). Still you persevere on- knowing you'll have to take on a tired baby in need of a nap, crossing busy streets of unpredictable drivers, and the long journey home made even longer by your tired feet and worn out nerves.

If that is not adventure I know not what is.

Much love- your adventuring stay at home mother of a sister.

Note to self: when the weather gauge reads "feels like 75 degrees", humidity is above 60%, and the sun is shining- it is not a good time to go on a walk.

PS- after listening to The Scarlet Pimpernel, an intriguing story of passion, I've decided to call my dearest Margo. At least on my blog.

PPS- Here are some pictures of dear Margo at 11.5 weeks. (not sure why they're all pixilated..)
