Fight Another Day

Last you saw me I was desperately clinging to a Rock, the waves of emotion and circumstance wearing down resolve. Since then, a mere two days ago but oh what an age, they have continued to wash but my grip has held firm.

Perhaps it was that grip that inspired him, perhaps it was something else entirely,  but unexpectedly I saw his hand reaching down to me; as he hoisted me out of the assailing waters the kindness in his face was unlike any others. Of course people have looked at me with kindness and have even helped me out of despair before this, but his was deeper somehow; softer and more defensive.

Perhaps after all it is the reason I call him husband- he has my heart.

He pulled me up and we stood on the Rock together; still standing apart, but... he held my hand. Our faces are turned in opposite directions when we look at the same issue but our backs are protected by each other (finally) and we can (feebly) begin to fight together.

Though WHAT, or who, we're fighting is not yet agreed upon.

Sometimes it can be hard to balance on a Rock.

It is nice to not be here alone.
